Trife Da God will undoubtedly establish a buzz after this album, emerging as the crew's Lloyd Banks or Juelz Santana. With his raw, authoritative flow and exceptional hip hop punchline prowess, he shows the most solo potential of the crew." - William Ketchum III
NBS caught up with Trife for an Exclusive interview.
NBS : What specific knowledge and experience do you see Ghostface bringing to the Theodore Unit (TU)
from his days in the Wu Tang?
Trife Da God : Leadership, ain’t no leaders but more like because he’s been in the game for like 12 years we learned a lot from him from his experiences, what he learned from dealing with the Wu I’ve learned from him.
NBS : How have you been dealing with your fame and new found success, and any future plans?
Trife Da God : I love it, I love it, I love people to come up to me and ask for autographs and tell me that my sh!t is hot, it makes me even want to go harder. For them to get something out of your music it makes you feel good. It makes you want to do more sh!t, put out more sh!t and give these nuccas something to talk about.
My future plans is to keep grinding, built an entity to have my business straight. Because your business has to be correct, that’s how I think you’re going to win, if your business is right.
NBS : What are you dabbling in on the business side of the game?
Trife Da God : Right now I’m just learning everything. Its like a game of chess I’m planning my moves. That’s what it is right now planning because the person who fails to plan, plans to fail. I’m just planning out my movements and I’m learning at the same time. You are just going to see it come to a hold when you be like “oh yeah” that nucca was talking about that sh!t, so he stayed true and he’s about his business.
NBS : What’s on the horizon? What’s the next release?
Trife Da God : The next release will be my album Trife The God, its untitled for right now. I have a few titles but when its ready to drop then I’m going to decide what its going to be called. I’m like 12 songs deep into it right now, when I get home off this tour I’m going to just tighten it up
NBS : What producers are you working with on this album?
Trife Da God : People hand you beats all f**king day. Some of them are wack and other times they have fire on them. I could work with anybody, unknown, well known. I worked with ANeal on a few tracks. Other than that its whoever got the hottest sh!t man, that’s who I’m f**king with.
NBS : Did you hear about Beenie Man being yanked from a concert associated with the MTV Video Music Awards because of his “anti-gay songs”?
Trife Da God : “OH Word”. I think that’s f**ked up man. That aint right, its like you should have never invited him then. If you found out he was anti gay you should have did your history on him from the first jump off. That’s like a smack in the face. That’s what I was reading in the new source with NAS or whatever. He was saying something like they wanted him to do the song “I Know I Can” on the BET awards a year later. He was like; when it was time for the people to hear it they didn’t want me to do it, so he was like I’m not doing it this year. Its like all these Nuccas on some funny sh!t. Everybody has there own preferences, if you don’t like gays then what the f**k. Now the worlds being ruled by gays? They just scared, its like that Eminem joint from before (MTV) on some scared sh!t.
NBS : Thanks for the interview any final words.
Trife Da God : Look out for articles on 718 in next months XXL, lookout for that video (Theodore Unit) “Pass The Mic”, The Executioners video with Me, Ghost & Black Thought from the Roots. Pretty Tony album go cop that, Theodore Unit album cop that, Kay Slay album I’m on that also cop that. Look for me on the mix tapes out there and watch out for my album coming soon.
