He always re-invents himself, making his music in a different aspect compared to the masses.
How did you hook up with Wu-Tang and what was the first track you did with them?
I give credit for meeting Rza to his younger brother freedom Allah. Me & freedom where in high school 2gether. We bumped heads in gym class when I notice the universal flag on his book bag. I wasn't 5% at the time but I wuz a heavy seeker for knowledge, & still am. I wuz bout 14 then.
The Grave Diggaz experience must have been special. What are your fondest memories of these days?
Juss being in the studio vibing wuz the sh*t. Back then we would make the songs in the studio from scratch. I would make the beat right there & they would write as I made the tracks. Those where the dayz.
You have a very deep style, mystical beats for sure! What would you credit as your musical influences?
I listen to a wide variety of music from classic rock, soul, jazz, new age, etc. Juss about everything. & all that influences me. But as far as hip hop producers. I came up listen to all the old school sh*t. I mean I been into hip hop since a child, like 10-11 yrs old, I'm 31 now. But I've always been around the influence of music from my pops & uncles even b4 that age because they are musicians as well so I came up watch them.
What's your favourite bit of studio kit and why?
Every since I started using reason I sold almost of all my keyboards & drum machines & studio equipment. The only thing I kept where like 2 keyboards & my best tube compressors & preamps. The computer gives me way more control over sounds, plus it's all more visual. I can really look @ the beat or the song. & the editing capabilities are crazy. Also everything iz right there @ my finger tips. Whether it be sounds, vox, samples.
How you get the name 4th Disciple?
It wuz giving to me by the Rza. I study supreme mathematics. My spiritual identity or name iz Divine Amir. D iz the 4th letter in the alphabet. So that's where the 4th comes from. A disciple iz one who iz in high spiritual training of self .
Hip-Hop is a lot more mainstream since the golden era of Hip-Hop from which spawned acts such as Wu-Tang. How do you view the music industry in the US at the moment?
The only thing I cee iz that people are makin allot of money but what are people really doin for the advancement of the people. But everything iz as it should be. The day thingz change, even then it will be as it should whether it changes for bad or worse. Nothing iz by accident or mistake in life at less not to me. We are getting pumped mad bullsh*t, are seeds singing lyrics that they shouldn't be singing. My son came in the house after school recently singing I'm in love wit a striper, datz crazy. But sh*t like dat gives us fuel to start making changes. So like I said iz all for a reason.
So what productions you working on at the moment?
I done a few joints on Killah Priest new album the offering. I'm bout to release a series of instrumental albumz. Got my artist Dezert Eagle, we are working on his album. The next freedom of speech jump off as well with Hell Razah. If everything goes well hopefully ill be on the inspector deck album. Plus I'm working on compilation. The compilation has been taken me 4ever to do because I want it to sound a certain way. Also a mixtape.
If someone wanted to buy a beat from you how would they go about it?
I have a page on myspace which iz www.myspace.com/4thdisciple. U can get @ me on there. I check my messages regularly, if not me my manager. So if u really wanna pop it off u can definitely find me there 4sho then we can take it from there.
Anything you wanna add?
To u up & coming producers & mc's. Be original, be respectable, & be free minded my peoples. Keep supporting the sound & the movement. I'mma keep blessin yall wit dat raw sh*t. Love & blessings to da world. Peace!!
