1. so let's just start off with your background, your age, etc.
shyheim: d**n.. i'm 26. i started rapping with rza & rns beats around the way. got picked up by virgin records, released "aka the rugged child" then "the lost generation". i got in contract problems with virgin. i didnt like they way they promoted me. i took a hiatus from music, did movies, compilations. 99 i recorded "the manchild" but i caught a case so they pulled it off the shelves. now they imported it and i want the money from it. i came home now and it's time to record an album. i got easy moe bee, rza, dr period and a couple indy producers. i want to turn it up and rep the authentic wu-tang. a lot of music has changed.. some fans dont like the way it changed. its cuz people were growing and its no the same as before since their mindframe has changed. this is my life, its everyday for me so my music is gonna remind them of an early wu-tang album. everything i say i've done, i've done. i'm real focused now and i listen to a lot of people. now people talk rap and before they all spit metaphors but it's not the same. too many people rap about girls and ****, when i talk about girls i speak different things not the usual. i don't go to clubs so i doesn't talk about clubs cuz i don't wanna be in that atmosphere. i only stay home, record music, shoot pool or a little basketball; the usual stuff. i think for himself and others cuz life is more serious.
2. so whats the title of your album?
"the greatest story never told" is the title of my new album. a lot of issues like never before will be touched.
3. who do you plan to work with in the near future or on your album?
big l, but he's in spirit on it. i don't know. there's really not.. i would say maybe lloyd banks or tony yayo (g-unit). he likes to vibe with people and if he relates with them then he vibes with them. i'm talking to dirty & rza. i don't know who i'll have it on. i want them to vibe on my topics, not just rhyme about anything cuz it's my baby. this album is nothing mediocre.. no mediocre beats, lyrics. i have a lot of beats and lyrics ready. i was writin a lot of lyrics in jail. i don't write lyrics to beats.. i just writes lyrics then change it slightly when i gets the beats.
4. when did you first get started rapping and with the wu?
i was 9. me and 9th prince were in the same class. we were the only two rappin. i grew up around rza.. from same neighborhood. i'm very greatful to be part of a team like that reached a height of success.
5. how do you feel that your were the first solo artist to release an album out of the wu fam?
i put my work in.. i shines and people recognize it even if i doesnt have a number 1 album out. i want to be able to sell 10 million and walk thru the mall without people grabbing him.. i just want to talk to them.
6. what's up with g.p. wu?
u grow and when u go into certain situations.. when its bad everybody's not there. they wasn't dealin with him emotionally, mentally. so its like whatver.. i aint doin no music with nobody that i aint gonna benefit from. i aint tryin to help anybody's career.. just his own. gp wu had their ****, wu-tang had their ****. i was cool with them and had a relationship with them even if they weren't cool with eachother.
7. what about rns?
rns taught rza to make beats. but rns is not business, he just likes to make beats. i'm working on some stuff with him. r is still in the hood so i feel that and i can relate with him.
8. who are you feelin in hip hop?
me. nah.. i cant judge other people's music or their pain cuz i dont know them.. i like some songs.. i really cant say bad things about anybody. i like some songs but i dont hate anyone. i dont give a **** about anyone as long as they dont cross paths with me. i'm willing to work with anybody who's staying true to the game.
9. who do you plan to work with the in the future?
eminem, maybe. beside jay.. but i like jae hood n d-block. i would **** with them cuz they still hard and not doin another route. i feel them dudes.
10 what about in the wu?
they called me and want me on their ****, i'll drop a verse for them if they want me to. i'ma do me and i'll see them on the top.
11. how do you feel about the next wu-tang album being the last wu-tang album?
i was never on no wu-tang clan album.. but why? only certain people know that cuz its like.. i'm a threat, i'm a real threat. how the **** u put snoop on ur **** but not shyheim? when they put their next album out i'll be on it. i don't think it had anything to do with loud. i'm gonna my thing so hard and i'ma be on that album cuz the fans want it. as long as the fans shout my name out i'ma do it. i was on cap album and we talked about that, if i put someone on my album i expect them to be at my shows.
12. how do you feel about the cappadonna vs. rza thing?
we all grown men, just handle ur business. blame urself before others.
13. odb on the roc?
big for him, beautiful situation. good for him. happy for him. he deserves his best and i hope for the best. i got a new group with a girl, i'm gonna do an album with her. she raps, her name is u.m.e. (universal master equality). i got a cousin named eloheim to look out for too.
14. what can you say about your group the embassy?
i lost touch when them when i got locked up and they'll be there when i do a show. i just saw squig and we'll get together soon. im back, ready to work. a lot of people showin me love. i'm real serious about it now.
15. future projects?
my ****, not trying to do it. independent on his own label.. working with distributors. trying to get **** situation first with label then start ****in with other guys.
16. protect ya neck records situation?
i know them but i'm not on their label. when i went to jail everybody wanted a piece of him. the streets keep him alive with my credibility. that's just a management thing, i'm not on their label.
17. who are you closest with in the wu? are you blood related with any of them?
rza. i ain't blood related with any of them.
18. what about the freestyle u did in '95 with biggie and tupac?
those were my boys, they were cool. it was a tragedy. beef is going too far. it seems this whole city is all about beef.
19. big l?
thats my boy. i have a tat of him on my neck. i keep him alive. that was my dog cuz he was an underdog. i felt him cuz we were in the same situation but the mainstream held them back. i knew him for years since his first album. i called him to produce a song cuz he was trying to eat then he got murdered.
20. any plans to released any unreleased tracks?
i got joints with sunz of man and all of them but thats old but u'll never seen me perform old records cuz he's not in that same mindframe anymore. everyday i change so each album is on a different level. its about how i feel now and what i'm doin now. i would never perform an old song. i would put out a cd with unreleased joints. a greatest hits album with unreleased songs, classic songs. i just want to get the **** out i doesnt care about the money. i want to be a legend.
21. what about acting?
thinking about doin more actin. i wrote a book in jail and i want to turn it into a book.. my album is a soundtrack to the book. aint nobody done a soundtrack to a book before. its about getting people to read. i'm gonna do a cassette where he reads the book too cuz people don't want to read.
22. have anything else to say to the fans?
thanks for the support. i aint gonna let u down. just keep my name alive, throw my name on the streets. the more demand, the more the industry will support me and the type of music i'm tryin to do.
