DA MONSTAR MOB:
Q. You guyz are called "The West Coast Wu-Tang Clan”..How do you feel about this? Do you consider yourself as the west coast wu-tang?
We are Skarekrow Musicc LLC 1st, then Da Monstar Mob 2nd and affliates of Wu-Tang 3rd... It's feels great to be apart of a historic Hip-Hop crew like da Wu however we're all about makin our own new history!
Q. In my opinion, Da Monstar Mob have revolutionised west coast hip hop and took it to that 'dark' level.. would you say that happened as a result of an east coast influence?
Everything in hip-hop has an East Coast influence... Good question tho!
Q. How come Mantra is no longer a Monstar Mobster? I know you said the Hip-Hop-Hero DVD will explain.. but we aint got that yet..?
Mantra is no longer a member of da MOB because he wasn't dependable enough to help get us to that next level... Basically HIP-HOP-HERO will show that his biz skills were not really up to par. Back in 2001-02 when we were getting ready to spend our own hard earn money towards putting our material on vynel & he told us that he rather become a D.J. and buy some turntables so we said PEACE! Cuz we got too many D.J.'s helping us already.... besides we needed a hungry rapper at the time not D.J. Mantra???
Q. Now that Mantra is no longer a member of Da Monstar Mob are you looking to recruit a new member?? If so.. would the likes of Vulgar or The Professional fit the bill?
Yes, we have added a new member named Mysta Shawn who is an R&G singer who studied music under Chaka Kahn... He's like the Nate Dogg of the group. And no Vulger and Professional do not fit da bill...
Q. Speaking of DVD’s.. We know you are planning a 2nd DVD to be released with the new Da Monstar Mob album.. what will it be about?
The 2nd CD will most likely be short videos from certain songs that will be off our album "Eye 4 an Eye"...
Q. Do you consider Jules Unique as an ‘official’ member of Da Mob?.. or more like an affiliate? ..and will we be hearing more of him soon?
He use to be an official member until after he bump heads wit Skarekrow & Onslawt in the studio... The topic was about a verse that he was suppose to practice but we all could tell that he didn't thus the verse came out sounding horrible while we were @ a major studio that was costing us(SKM LLC.) $50 dollars per hour. Studio time lost plus he didn't even help to pitch in on... Krow told him to get his act together or go! So he chose to leave. However you still will here sum of his material on "Eye 4 an Eye" in da future and that's about it!
Q. To each member.. Who were you inspirations when growing up.. music related or not?
We all agree that we we're inspired by all music genre's from Michael Jackson to OBD! Hopefully that paint's a vast picture for ya...
Q. Who would you like to colabo with on upcoming tracks/albums?
We would like to colab with who ever is HOT in da game. Famous or not we'll handle the rest
Q. Realistically.. Where do you want to be and what do you want to achieve as a group in 5 years time?
Holding a BIG POT!!!
SKAREKROW:
Q. Skarekrow.. Your music style amazes me every time I hear it. How did you learn it? What was your biggest inspiration for this kind of genre?
Thank you for the love... I do this for the hip-hop lover... Big up! A mixture of growing up and dancing a musical background(playin intruments).
Q. Did you always want to be a producer or a rapper 1st?
Life is my biggest insperation... Grew up doing everything to stay out of trouble. Rap, dance, DJ, make beats.
Q. Who would you like to produce for that you have not already produced for?
Everybody I haven't produced.
Q. If you were asked to join the Wu Elements would you consider?
I don't know it's hard to say?
Q. Will you keep the same style of beats and production or will there be a change/development in the future?
The same style I think... My style was and will always be changing. I just keep it HOT!
Q. Have you been producing for outside artists? Any plans to do so?
I've done a lot of beats for other people and it's always something new.
Q. From where you prefer getting your samples?? movies?.. classical?.. traditional?.. folk?.. jazz music?.. live instruments?
I love all of them the same for differen't reasons.
Q. Any plans on a solo joint.. as an mc &/or producer?
Maybe? Stay tunned in!
LEVIATHAN:
Q. How did you come up with your name?? Because there are many definitions of the word ‘Leviathan’.. is it based on the film, or the biblical sea monster/serpent, or is it the ship?
The first time I heard the name was in the Bible book of Jobe... And I was like d**n!!! Whut the hell is a Leviathan??? So I looked it up in the dictionary a it was written that it was an ancient sea monster/ egyptian hyroglyph that was said to have once swallowed all the moons and stars in the universe... And I was like O.K. this name kinda sounds like the type of artist I wanted to be. In other words "Don't f**k wit me cuz I will swallow your whole team whole!" Later I discovered there was a movie that came out around the same year I was born in 1978, I rented it and loved it. So ever since then(1997) I've been Leviathan way b4 that ship on "Deep space 9" or what ever that t.v. show was called...
Q. How many different styles do you have?? and do you have names for them?
I've got many styles up my magic sleeves. However unlike Holocaust I never ever cared about given them names... B'cuz I let the beat decide the style for me. After I've listened to it for a while --- and whut ever comes out... comes out! I stay trying to evolve everytime I record
Q. Are you planning, or have you started work on a solo album?
No plans for a solo... But I will have tons of solo songs that I'll release in da future with Skarekrow either on Monstar Mob cd's or on our "Rood Bwoyz" project in which we(Just Krow & I) already have 3 songs completed.
Q. A group with you and Alcatraz would be interesting to see.. Is that a possibility?
Well, right about now Holocaust is mainly focused on just doing his own solo thing... I really don't trip off stuff like that but 1 thing I can tell u fa sure is that we will always be making music together forever along with our lil' cuzzin Onslawt aswell. Maybe we'll call our selves "Da Blood Line" or sumthin ... Stay tuned hommie n we'll cee whut da future holdz.
Q. Ok.. We are aware that Mantra has left Da Monstar Mob.. But will you be releasing any new songs with the lyrics you used on the stolen Parallax ep?? Because as a group, Parallax were the nuts.. Especially on The Renaissance..?
Thanx for dat luv fam... but as far as da Parallax lyrics are concerned I feel like I would be walking backwards in my career. THat's not whut I'm trying to do right now. B-sides those ryhmes we're kinda week if ya ask me. Trust me this new ish iz blowing that old style clean out da water!
ONSLAWT:
Q. Just curious. Why change your name from Black Sun to Onslawt?
I just fell that this name best describes my new style! Due to experience i went thru so i had to match the name to da style...
Q. Do you have any other aliases?
Yeah, da ladies call be Wesely!
Q. Your "10 track exclusive album" had a different style compared to the music you do with Da Monstar Mob.. Is there a reason for this?
Da only thing that cahnged was da beat styles and the evolution of my current style you hear today! Plus I used a few differen't producers as well...
Q. It must be cool.. rappin with you cousins Alcatraz and Leviathan.. Any other family members breaking into the rap game??
Nope, just da hommie "Ak RYTE" whos rapping wit Gorilla Black but he's not blood...
props to the warcloud forum
